hug, then drill

we had an unexpected weekend. we had ordered some taps off ebay and we thought we would tap a few trees, but it was so fun that we ended up tapping 17. and within 24 hours had 40 gallons of sap! we are totally over our heads! we are burning on a camp stove outside and this afternoon jon set up a wood burning stove too. (stay tuned for pics) it takes about 40-50 gallons of sap to produce one gallon of syrup. that means you have to boil off 40 gallons! it is estimated to take about 24 hours of boiling to do that. we are so overwhelmed.
we are going to have take the taps out tomorrow, cause we just can not handle all the post processing. although we have had a great day and many have come to enjoy as well.
